Good food brings people together. The comments at The Broken Scale are a place to ask questions, share what happened in your kitchen, and help the next cook succeed.
What makes a helpful comment?
Tell us which recipe you made, what worked, and what you would change. If you tried a substitution, a different pan, or another cooking method, include those details. Questions about ingredients and techniques are welcome too.
Recipe ratings
Please rate a recipe after making it, and base your rating on your own experience. Mention any significant changes you made so other readers can understand the result. Do not post fabricated reviews, impersonate another cook, or coordinate ratings. Disclose any relevant incentive or business relationship.
What we remove
- Harassment, threats, discriminatory remarks, and personal attacks.
- Spam, scams, misleading claims, impersonation, and unrelated promotions.
- Private information about you or anyone else, including addresses, phone numbers, and account details.
- Material you do not have permission to share, including copied articles or recipe text.
- Malicious links and content that encourages harm.
A relevant link that helps answer a cooking question may be useful. Repetitive promotion and links unrelated to the discussion may be removed.
How moderation works
Comments may be reviewed before appearing. We may decline or remove comments that violate this policy, and restrict repeated abuse. Genuine negative feedback is welcome; disagreement with us or a low recipe rating alone is not a reason for removal.
We cannot promise to publish or reply to every comment, or respond within a particular time. Comments reflect their authors’ experiences and opinions.
Your words and your privacy
You retain ownership of your comment. By submitting it, you give The Broken Scale permission to display it with the site and to format or moderate it as needed. This does not transfer ownership of your work to us.
Your comment and chosen display name may be public. Your email address is not intended for public display. Please read our Privacy Policy for information about comment data and site services, and do not include sensitive personal information in a comment.
